Public officials' invitations from the Post did not mention that the dinners were money-making ventures for the newspaper.

When inviting U.S. lawmakers to a private dinner at the home of the Washington Post publisher, the newspaper did not mention that it wanted to make money from the event by soliciting underwriters willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars to be in such elite company.
